Tom Maxwell, Designer / Maker (www.tom-maxwell.co.uk) designs makes a lot of high quality furniture. Tom asked me to take a few sets of photos to capture his workmanship with the photos needing to be used to advertise his woodwork and designing craft to gather more business across the North of Leeds. This is a good example of product design captured in a plain scene to highlight the skill and intricate detail of the actual work and shows off the finer characteristics that wouldn’t normally have been seen without having the furniture sat in front of you. We couldn’t move the furniture into a studio so I went to Tom’s workshop and took the photos onsite. Being a Leeds based photographer meant I wasn’t far away and could pop into his working environment without causing too much disruption to his daily work. Following my visit I removed the workshop surroundings from the photos and made the images more presentable for Tom to use in his promotional material.
