I’ve photographed several projects for Precision Builders, and this home in Totley, Sheffield was another fantastic opportunity to showcase their work. The brief was to capture a large rear and side home extension that completely transformed the main communal space of the property.
Capturing the Space
The extension reimagined the heart of the home, stretching out to the side to create a bright kitchen and dining area, which then flowed seamlessly into the original living room. At the rear, the build connected to the old garage, now converted into a cosy seating area with a utility and toilet, tying the old and new spaces together.
I focused on photographing the flow between rooms, using wide shots to show the layout and close-ups to highlight the finishes, textures, and thoughtful detailing. The kitchen photography was especially rewarding, capturing the design, surfaces, and layout that make the space both functional and visually striking.
Light, Design, and Atmosphere
One of the standout features was the bi-folding doors, which I photographed both open and closed to show the versatility of the space. Skylights and a multi-layered ceiling added depth and dimension, while a multi-coloured lighting system stretched across the full extension, creating a modern and vibrant atmosphere.
These elements gave me plenty of opportunities to play with natural and ambient light, capturing the home at its most dynamic and visually engaging moments.
Drone Photography
To really convey the scale and design of the project, I also incorporated drone photography. The aerial shots showed how the extension integrated with the existing property and garden, providing a perspective that floor-level photos alone couldn’t achieve. These images helped tell the story of the build from every angle.
Reflections
Working with Precision Builders is always a pleasure. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality made the project both photogenic and inspiring. This Totley Brook extension is a perfect example of how thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship can transform a home, and I’m proud to have documented the process through home, kitchen, and interior photography.
