The Pink Banana is a Toy Shop & Party Shop in Chapel Allerton, Leeds that specialises in Helium Balloons but also stocks party decorations, fancy dress costumes, arts and crafts, party bag fillers, greeting cards and sweets. They’ve been running the shop for over twenty years but hadn’t bothered with a website and had decided it was time to get one so they asked me to come up with some ideas. As a Leeds Web Designer I came back with a few solutions from e-commerce, which could sell all their stock, to just a basic website with a few pages to advertise the kind of thing they sold.
Within this initial discussion I had shown them a few examples of what was possible so I knew exactly what we needed when they decided on just a basic website with a few pages. I spent half a day in the shop taking photographs of the stock in bulk which I took away to edit and upload to the website I had created for them.
The site was meant to be fun, bright and attractive to appeal to children, with a few balloons dotted around and obviously a ‘Pink Banana’. There are a few screenshots below but there are animated elements so you should go and visit the website to get a real idea of how it works and what it looks like on a desktop computer to mobile devices like smart phones and tablets.
