Tom Maxwell, Designer / Maker (www.tom-maxwell.co.uk) designs makes a lot of high quality furniture. Tom asked me to take a few sets of photos to capture his workmanship with the photos needing to be used to advertise his woodwork and designing craft to gather more business across the North of Leeds. This ladder is a good example of onsite product design captured in it’s location within the home it was made for. I have tried to highlight the skill and intricate detail of the work to shows off the finer characteristics that wouldn’t normally have been seen without having the furniture sat in front of you. We couldn’t move the furniture into a studio so I went round to his customer’s flat and took the photos onsite. Being a Leeds based photographer meant I wasn’t far away and could pop into this Chapel Allerton flat without causing too much disruption to their daily lives. Following my visit I cropped the photos to cut out the home life surroundings, making the images more presentable for Tom to use in his promotional material.
